PORTLAND RNSA BRANCH AGM 2018 Informal Report by Branch Site Admin.

In my current position of a non committee member  I  have pieced together a brief report of the activities that occurred in AGM.
Our Branch Secretary Mr Wayne Elkin led the meeting and other members of the committee were instrumental in arranging our AGM at the WPNSA Spinnaker Restaurant on a dark night on the last day in November. Our thanks go out to our members who came along some of which have stayed loyal to us even though they have long since sadly let their Yachts to other hands hoping that they will care for them as they did.

Tremendous  thanks to  Peter Allam and staff  of WPNSA who provided as always a great professional service.  We are always grateful to the girls in the office and Yard staff who help us with providing us with sterling service. The Buffet was excellent and the Tuna sandwiches were delicious. The bar staff kept the liquid flowing. Thank you.
We hope we didn't leave the Restaurant too untidy when we departed.

This report is purely to record the highlights of the evening and the minutes will be published separately  by our Branch Secretary.

We all started to drift in around 18:00 and mingled to catch up on the years events. Brendan started with some photography and later we tucked into the Buffet before the main event began

Wayne called the Meeting to order at 19:35

Gift Photo. The work of John Hasker has been recognised by  members of the Branch who rely of a good safe swinging mooring. Leigh Merrick is seen here presenting a lovely set of Cuff Links to John, our current Mooring Secretary. Thank you for all the very hard physical work you do, John, along with skilful negotiation with contractors to keep our costs to a minimum. Click on Photo.

Gieves Cup Photo. This years award has gone to Ian Bowker. Ian had done a splendid job of Mooring Secretary before handing over the role to John Hasker. Ian had a very complex task in ensuring the safe transition of our moorings as a result of their relocation as a requirement of the Hosting of the 2012 Olympics. Normally recognition of a committee member is done at the end of a term of service. However Ians input recognition was delayed as he then took on the task of the Branches Racing Secretary. Ian has now stepped down from Committee so the Branch was now able to show its appreciation.

Wind Surfing HMS Heron. The Gentlemen below attended our meeting and under AOB introduced themselves as representatives of the Windsurfing fraternity at Yeovil. It is understood they may well be almalgamating with Portland Branch. See minutes for detail. I apologise in advance for not taking names but it is important to get these reports out ASAP.
