PORTLAND RNSA BRANCH AGM 2019 Informal Report by Branch Web Site Admin.

In my current position of a non committee member  I  have pieced together a brief report of the activities that occurred in AGM.
Our Branch Secretary Mr Wayne Elkin led the meeting and other members of the committee were instrumental in arranging our AGM at the WPNSA Spinnaker Restaurant on 29th November. Our thanks go out to around 36 members who came along.

Once again   thanks to  Peter Allam and staff  of WPNSA who provided as always a great professional service.  We are always grateful to the girls in the office and Yard staff who help us with providing us with sterling service. The hot meal provided this year was a well cooked curry garnished with leaves and "Duros de harina" .  Well done Kaz and Team, keep it up. The bar staff kept the liquid flowing. Thank you.

This report is purely to record the highlights of the evening and the minutes will be published separately  by our Branch Secretary.

Kick off was 18:00 with drinks at the bar and if like me brain struggling to place a name to a face you know but haven't seen for a year
Wayne called the Meeting to order at 19:35

This year we welcomed the RNSA new General Secretary Commodore (Rtd) Philip Warwick - Chief Executive and General Secretary - gensec@rnsa.org.uk.
CDRE Warwick was introduced to the members during the informal meet and greet time prior to the commencement of the AGM. He had kindly come along to give us the current sitrep on RNSA as an organisation in its progress to move to CIO status. He clearly gave us a picture of how we as a Branch could fit into the new CIO status of RNSA. Any further detail on this will be promulgated via the Branch Committee however we as a Branch appreciated the time CDRE Warwick had set aside for us. Click on Image

Gieves Cup Photo. This years award has gone to Steve Shears. Steve has given unstinting support to John Hasker our Mooring Secretary. I recall his blue hands pulling up on rope in order to free the Lifting Buoy. he is always cheerful and we shared many a good banter on the Fireball XL5. My new name for the Branch's rib.
