Lady Mona. Steve Lowe and Jason Hook. A fishing trip Lulworth Banks. 2016
Another Fishing Trip. Lovely colors on the fish. Steve & I sailed yesterday out to Lulworth Bank, the sea state was much kinder than last Sunday when we were out in the bay..this time we "heaved to" and drifted/fished over the banks catching black bream & cuckoo wrasse. Whilst out over the banks we saw a paddle steamer, we think it was the Waverley. On the way back to the harbour we saw the Lifeboat towing a yacht back into Weymouth Harbour. Perfect weather for us. We had black bream, pan fried for tea on the boat, couldn't get much fresher than that. Pictures by Jason Hook.

My wife and I undertook a private cruise under the banner of the RNSA Burgee. We normally spend what short time we have every year visiting Alderney week and cruising the Channel Islands and the adjacent Cherbourg Peninsula.
This year, we linked up with an old Naval friend of many years who is an RNSA member in the Portsmouth branch with the intention of going east from Cherbourg. He also has a Barbican 33 and was planning to make his way to Fécamp before returning home; so we visited St Vaast and Grandcamp Maisy in company before going our separate ways. My wife and I wanted to explore some D-Day history so continued on to Port-en-Bessin as we were particularly interested in walking the ground of 47 Commando RM’s famous engagement there. http://www.47commando.org.uk/pages/Port-en-Bessin.htm We also fitted in a trip to Caen to see the Bayeux Tapestry before returning home via Cherbourg where my wife treated me to a visit round the decommissioned French ballistic missile submarine “Le Redoubtable”. Something I have wanted to do for several years and which was most interesting. Maybe next year we can sail as far as Ouistreham and take the bus to Pegasus Bridge (another tick I would like to get in the box!)
