Welcome to PORTLAND RNSA                                                                                                                            Pro expiry 18 October 2018

About Us:

The Portland Branch of the Royal Naval Sailing Association is a vibrant group of keen sailors made up initially from RN Serving personnel and MoD employees based at Portland. With the departure of the RN from Portland a band of dedicated people who have remained in the local area and some from well over 60 miles have kept the Branch alive by integrating with the other sailing organisations of Weymouth and Portland. We are proud of our unique standing and our history. We have moved around a little but are now very settled within the excellent facilities of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. We will retain our Naval heritage and give support to the many RN and RNSA sailors who pass this way.

What we can offer:

We have around 50 swinging moorings available for use at any given time and most of them are occupied. We also have close links with Portland Marina and can arrange berths for members should they not wish to use a mooring. The moorings themselves are well maintained and are interconnected via ground chain so that boat separation is properly maintained. To date no boat has been lost due to mooring failure. The cost to members is kept to a very inexpensive competitive rate. By being members of our Branch you can also obtain discounts at some of the local services available in the Weymouth and Portland area.

What we do:

Currently we are mainly a cruising based Branch and participate in locally organised events and join our parent group's (RNSA Central) arranged events which involve other Branches and Yachting organisations of the UK. The facilities at WPNSA gives anyone of any sailing discipline  the opportunity to take part and you can also store your boat and equipment there. Our current fleet of privately owned craft range from a converted sailing Trawler down to a Cornish Crabber. Many of our members also undertake private cruising so you have to opportunity to sail in company as agreed between yourselves. We encourage all members to record their events through reports, photography and video so that we as a Branch can continually promote ourselves and our organisation.

How we are managed.

We operate against the terms and conditions of our Parent organisation and our local Branch rules and policy. We are managed through a Committe which is made up of individuals who are elected by the Branch members.  We as a Branch actively encourage our members to take part in the running of the Branch.
