28/05/2019 MUPE BAY
Mupe Bay Rally on the 25 May 2019.
Status: Success Fantastic Day on Saturday but again due to forecast it was considered by most that the trip would be a one day affair. Although no wind in the morning it got quite breezy for the return journey in the afternoon. The tide though being two days off neaps was set fair for the transits. The attending boats, Gwendoline Grace, Fusion 111, Termaric, Ripple and Heatwave. Sad not to see Laykin but Stu and Pam have other commitments. Moonraker has also left the Branch. Sandy Watson did say he and Winkie along with Gillie would arrive later in the day but by 3pm they hadn't made it and it was now time to prep up for return. Always nervous in approaching the bay for a safe and clear anchorage point but Mupe is so sheltered there is time to look for a good drop point. I always try to get close to the pebble beach as the sea bed here seems to be clean with easy anchor retrieval. Gwendoline Grace has set up fenders for rafting but Heatwave too small and light to do this so anchored away. We watched Ripple arrive and Mike Greaves (Skipper) informed us He was going to stay overnight. We tried to call various bots but no response. However I did manage to contact Ripple by Mobile phone. I feel that coms needs more investigation to give added protection should one of us break down.
Chris Stonehouse our Sailing Secretary organised a drinks and nibbles get together but I must say it was much more like a buffet with delicious snacks of sausages, rolls, chicken dips and wine. Stella you and your team did an amazing spread and I feel that those of us who attended thank you for such a splendid job. Well Done.
Heatwave's tender acted as a superb sea Taxi keeping people dry in the transfer.
We did note that a Yacht flying an RNSA burgee had anchored close by but they did not make any contact.

The following Slide Show was created from Samsung Galaxy S5. The photos can be copied easily on a PC by mouse over>Lclick and Hold and drag to desktop or folder.
The Slide Show has Controls Top left and Right and different start points can be selected from the Film strip below. If you click on the film strip you can pan it left or right. WEEBLY reduces resolution so pre uploading processing is necessary to get better images. This has not been done for these photos and some are a bit poor. Never the less the record is there. I have found that using the top right control to move on is a good way to flip through. Then you can pause should you wish.
