TIKKA'S TRAVELS

Picture
From June to August 2016, Steve, Kaz and Harry Pointon made an epic journey sailing their 28ft yacht, "Tikka" around the UK.  The Pointon family took on this challenge to highlight the work of Action for Children and raise urgently needed funds.

The UK has some of the strongest tides in the world and our weather, even in the summer months, can bring strong winds and poor visibility, but this didn’t faze the Pointon family.  They braved mountainous seas, endured engine trouble and marshalled a host of characters in the crew throughout the 12 week adventure.

Steve has been sailing with his wife Kaz for about 20 years starting with  charter yachts on the Solent and has the experience to have taken on this beautiful but very challenging voyage.

06 March 2018 Tikka Talk
Picture
Last night at WPCA Tuesday Talk Steve Pointon gave an excellent presentation on Tikka's Story so far?? Steve's sailing experience showed through in handling boat problems at Sea and his partner Kaz and son Harry assisted (along with other press ganged companions) in the family adventure to raise over £20,000 for Action for Children. People were very generous to the cause on his travels and the members of WPCA and Portland RNSA came up trumps last night. Sadly one member of our Branch sat rather heavily on a chair and broke it.  Next year Tikka is planning to set off again around UK. Details eagerly awaited. If you would like to sail with Steve all the way or some of the way he would love to have you along. Click on blue link.

Steve will be re-living his experiences on Tuesday evening 6th March at 20.00, at the Castle Cove Sailing Club as Weymouth and Portland Cruising Association's  guest speaker.
